The following is an edited text from an eMail I sent to Tommy Morton who suggested I post this on the USER FORUM and encouraged me with his kind  "Thanks for the story.  A real testimony builder."

Here goes:

"As a volunteer preacher to the Hispanic inmates at the Federal Correctional Institute in Memphis,  I had the previlege of preaching every Sunday at 1:00 pm for about 12 years.  I kept on hearing about this wonderful Bible Study leader,  who lead the services for the Spanish inmates on Tuesday nights and how good they were.

During a volunteer appreciation dinner, I met that leader.  His name is Sam Samudio, whose testimony is just fantastic.  He said that he thanked God for everything including those things we can't control but make us better along the way.  Long story short, turns out that Sam Samudio is the same one who did the songs "Wooly Bully"  and  "Hey, there, Little Red Ridin' Hood" that were (and still are) very papular in the '60s.  Sam got no royalties from them and the record company execs got all the money.  Even with that, Sam said,   "It was fun, but telling these guys (prisoners) about the love of God and living in HIM is so much better."   That was '95 and I'd say he was about 60 then.  To this date, I don't know if he has 'retired' from that ministry.  but I just thank God I got to meet him and share Jesus with so many of those same prisoners during my 12 years there.

Just thought you might like to know." ........

".... Tommy, the reason I shared this was because of the songs from the '60s music selections (which include 'Satisfaction'  and  Pet Clark's 'Downtown') number 3 on the list is "Wooly Bully"... just a story begging to be told."

(Tommy,  fyi, I didn't know quite how to paste from my eMail page but I think I got the job done...)

Sincerely,  Paul Viera, c/o '65

I think its a real shame that artists like Sam did not get paid for their work like this, but that seemed to be a norm back in the day for new artists.

It is a wonderfull story about his ministry. As I stated before a real testimony builder!
