Comments:

Army for 23 years (in and out of the Army three times), U.S. Army Band in Washington, D.C. in the 70's, Bachelor of Science in Math from Eastern New Mexico University. ROTC and commission in the Army. Flew helicopters (MEDEVAC pilot). Master of Science in Computer Science from Colorado State University. After Army retirement, worked at Hewlett-Packard for 7 years in Colorado. Music Director at music school in Washington state. Then lived in San Antonio for 4 years. Now retired and living in South Dakota in the Black Hills.

Play in the Black Hills Symphony Orchestra, Rapid City Municipal Band, Rapid City New Horizons Band (wife Linda plays in that also - percussion), and some other groups. Instruments are Trombone and Euphonium.

2015 - Just purchased my 30th motorcycle (no kidding, 30 motorcycles since I was 15 years old and more than a million miles on bikes). Linda and I now the proud owners of a 2015 Harley-Davidson Ultra Limited. Just in time for the 75th Sturgis Motorcycle Rally (we live 10 miles away ). Rally organizers expect over one million to attend this year. Yikes!!

2018 - update - we now live right in Sturgis, home of the largest annual motorcycle rally in the world.

2022 - Linda and I have moved to Florida and live in Del Webb's Spruce Creek Golf and Country Club development (a gated, over 55 community) in Summerfield, Florida. We are just a little north of The Villages.

School Story:

When I and others in the Roswell High School Band attended All-State in Albuquerque, I am told (by Ronnie Horne) that I almost got myself and some of my friends thrown in jail. I can't for the life of me remember what it was that I did, but it must have been one of my less remarkable moments. (2015 - I am told that it was a pillow fight in the hotel room where we were staying in Albuquerque - pillows destroyed!) I know that I used to drive Mr. Summersgill (band director) nuts. Sorry Mr. Summersgill.

Also remember leaving the parking lot at the high school after a game of touch football. Warren Schumpert (he is very sadly no longer with us) was sitting on the passenger side, and I made an outrageous right turn in my parent's VW Beetle, and promptly turned the car over on its side. There we were, sliding along the road, on the left side of the car, me in the driver's position, and Warren (a big fellow) sitting on my head. The window was open and I can't believe how lucky I am, and I guess Warren, for not having picked up a large amount or road rash. No injuries at all, but I was not having a good time driving home (after pushing the car upright) with the impending news I was going to have to give my folks. My older and younger brother also have the distinct honor or having wrecked that same VW. When I graduated from college many years later, my folks still had that car, and offered it up as a graduation present!

Happy Birthday, John! May you and Linda have a wonderful celebration for your birthday and a wonderful Christmas all rolled into one. How do you like living in Florida? I'm sure it's an adjustment but it beats the cold of the Dakotas. Be strong and of good cheer. KLUJICS! Colossians 3;14 -15. On your birthday, howl at the moon. It's what Coyotes do.

Our "new" 2012 Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca with 400 miles on it. Bought in November 2020. Our motorcycle is now gone, after 56+ years and 30 motorcycles. This is "safer" maybe. Incredible car and wicked fast. Linda serves dual duty as my good sense and my brakes. If you are ever in Sturgis, look us up, and get a ride in the Boss.

Happy Birthday, John! How are things in Sturgis? I hope well and you are free and clear of the Rona. Michael Crichton's Andromeda Strain is so similar, but there they stopped it in the lab. It is truly weird this has happened. Anyway, I am chasing rabbits. I want for you to have the very best of birthday celebrations and hopefully, Ian and Katherine can be a part via phone or internet. I wish you a Merry Christmas and have to say it! December birthday kids are the coolest. Stay safe, take care and KLUJICS! Psalm 46. I hope you've been able to play your horn some. Stay cool.

Just swapped email messages with Joe, Debby's husband. He asked for me to post his email address here in case anyone wanted information on Debby. It is jpappe@earthlink.net.

I just read Debby's profile. Her husband, Joe, updated it in October 2018. Debby has Alzheimer's and they moved from Albuquerque to Ft Worth, Texas to be near their daughter. Debby is now living in a memory care facility and Joe has a home close to their daughter and family. I sent an email message to Joe, and he responded with a message about all of this just recently. Please feel free to contact me if you want any more information. (johnalanmorgan@outlook.com) Linda and my thoughts and prayers are with Joe and Debby.

The Yankee Nomads, a folk trio I was in during the mid-late 60's. Left to right: Tim, me and O.J. We were all in the Army and stationed in Europe. We tried out for a soldier show, got picked, and then traveled to and performed at all of the Army bases in Germany and Italy.

On my Harley Road King in front of a really awesome plane (B-1 Bomber). Just getting ready for the Dakota Thunder Motorcycle Run from Ellsworth AFB through the Black Hills ending up in Sturgis (site of the annual Sturgis mortorcyle rally). An estimated 750,000 attended this year (2010).
